This product is used for qualitative detection 5 types of human PIK3CA gene mutations in exons 9 and 20 from tumor DNA specimens of paraffin-embedded section.
The PIK3CA gene mutation directly or indirectly affects the medication and prognosis of colorectal, breast, and lung cancers etc. Studies have found that trastuzumab is less effective in people with PIK3CA mutations in the PI3K/AKT pathway. Other studies have shown that colorectal cancer patients with PIK3CA mutations were resistant to cetuximab. In addition, 2% of lung cancer patients were associated with PIK3CA mutation, and the mutation patients related with TKI drug resistance. Therefore the detection of PIK3CA gene mutation can effectively guide personalized medication in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and other cancer patients.
