Gravity-controlled heart perfusion system
The classical, gravity-controlled Langendorff system heated by circulating water bath is ideal for the retrograde perfusion (Langendorff) of isolated small rodent (i.e. mouse, rat, rabbit) hearts. Its design enables using one or two buffer columns. Perfusion pressure is set by inner glass tube in the columns, serving as owerflow as well. Buffer refill is aided by pump. Built in bubbler helps to maintain pH and oxygen saturation in both coulmns. Taps make quick and easy switch between the two columns. Optionally, the system can be used in constant flow mode using a roller pump with pump controller.
Physiological parameters, such as LVDP, bifasic-, or monophasic action potentials, coronary flow, perfusion pressure, buffer temperature can be measured and recorded via suitable sensors, transducers and DAQ system. Electrical stimulation (pacing) also can be performed.
