The rodent mouth gag provides a safe means of holding open the jaws of virtually all rodent and rabbit species. Tooth trimming is easy to perform on sedated animals even for a single operator because the animal is secured in the optimal position.
Simultaneous pressure on the upper and lower jaw minimises the risk of injury. Even in rodents with short, missing or malpositioned teeth, the jaws are easily opened, since the mouth opener is positioned behind the teeth. At the same time, this techniques give a better view of the oral cavity and also makes it easier to use the cheek dilator and other instruments for the dental treatment of rodents.
