LOW DEAD-VOLUME Data:
Dead-volume (also called ‘dead-space') is the amount of fluid remaining within the
syringe and needle after an injection is completed.
Low dead-volume (LDV) syringes and needles are designed to reduce this wastage.
According to Pfizer's instruction for use of its BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, it is possible to extract additional 1 dose from the standard 5 doses vial when using a low dead-volume syringe which have a dead-volume of no more than 35 microliters (0.035ml).
KDL 1ml AD syringe is designed with fixed needle to minimize the dead volume, in addition with retractable mechanism that adds stick injury protection to reduce the risk of needle-stick injuries and disable mechanism that allows only one use, this is called a reuse prevention feature.
