The main components of the preservation solution are dibasic sodium phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, Gentamicin, Tweem-80, histidine, lecithin, sodium thiosulphate, etc. which can help to neutralize sanitizer like quaternary ammonium compounds and stabilize virus. Keeping swabs in the tube facilitates the subsequent experiments.
